This lovely old photo was taken in September 1901, at a Wedding in Threlkeld, Cumbria.

My connection with the photo is that my Grandmother, Doris Mills (later Doris Mounsey) is the baby in the centre of the photo, sat on her Grandmothers lap, surrounded by their relatives and friends.

I’ve added some colour to the photo and tried to make the image a bit clearer.

The event was on the 5th September 1901, and it was the Wedding of William Macauley and Frances Mills (both sat to our right of baby Doris).

The location was in a field just across from St Mary’s Church in Threlkeld. Here is a more recent photo of the area, with this photo overlaid, and maps of the location.

In 1994 I asked Doris to name as many people as she could remember in the photo, and I have added their names, and where possible, their relationship to in others in the photo, but there are still quite a few gaps.

I thought it would be useful to publish this online so other can review, share knowledge and build information about the people in the photo. If your relatives are on here, or you have any information, please leave a comment and I will add the details you have.

Hopefully we could end up with a name for everyone on the photo. There may also be other photos taken by the photographer at the Wedding which would be great to see.

If you click or tap on a person on the image below it will bring up the names I have so far.

Green is where I think I have correctly identified the person, Amber where I have some details like Surname, and Red means that it needs further research.

Please contact me if I’ve missed anything, or some of the details are incorrect, and I’ll update it.
